Racist Shift Supervisor at Rite Aid (Beware!!)

Hi all,

So I went to several Rite Aids today.. and after two that didn't have what I wanted in stock, finally the third one had mostly what I wanted. So I have my cart full of Gains, Pantene, Nivea body washes, etc, and headed to the register with my coupons. I get there and handed my card and waited for her to scan all my items. I then handed her my coupons, with my $4/$20 VV on top. She separates all the coupons to match them to the items and then says that I can't use the Boudreaux's VV $3 coupon with my $2 manufacturer's coupon because that would exceed the selling price $3.99. I didn't want to argue about that so I said fine just use the $3 one then. She scans the rest and I said you forgot the $4/$20 VV. She starts to get pissed and asks what that is like she didn't know what a $20 purchase meant and why didn't I give her that first? I said I put that on top of the stack! She then prints out the receipt and complains that she would have to cancel the whole transaction and start over. I said fine, I don't want them anymore, give me my coupons back. She throws them at me very rudely and I start to count them to make sure I get all of them back. Meanwhile, she says, "It's always YOU PEOPLE. You CHINESE people always want free stuff." If that is not ignorant and racist I don't know what is. I storm out of there with my coupons. My only mistake was not getting her name. But I know she was the shift supervisor there so I will be making a call to customer service first thing in the morning. I don't understand how she can have a job in that position and treat customers without any respect!

This post doesn't really have anything to do with beauty but I thought I'd express my opinion about how poorly they conduct their business. So I ordered a bracelet from their website back in March, it cost about $108. One of the side clasps came off so it became unwearable, talk about poor quality made items! I went to the store itself to ask them if they can fix it for me. They said it was impossible because the titanium material was custom made for that bracelet and they couldn't fix it (even by taking the link out) and because I also didn't purchase warranty. So I walked out of the store upset and wondered if I wasted my money for nothing. Coincidentally, I walked passed a random jewelry store that claimed they could fix broken jewelry, so I thought why not, I had nothing to lose. The guy at the counter said it was no problem for him to fix, and said it only cost $5! I was shocked! He did it within 5 minutes and I walked out of there such a happy girl! If he told me it cost $20 I would've paid him that too! Moral of the story is: I will never do business with Zales again!

Pressing e.l.f. mineral eyeshadows

So Graduate school is starting again tomorrow so I decided to make a post about this before I have no more free time on my hands. I tried to look for other people who tried pressing e.l.f. mineral e/s to see if they were successful because I spent a lot of time trying to press NYX Ultra Pearl Manias and they were a disaster! When I didn't find any, I just decided to do it and show you all the results.

Materials: I used 50% Isopropyl Alcohol, a dropper, empty pans, double sided tape, an empty cd palette, a small spatula to flatten the e/s in the pans, toothpick (optional), a towel, napkins, and the e/s pigments to press!

I took the sifter off of the e/s jar and used the dropper to put some alcohol in it. Make sure to not put too much alcohol or else it will be too watery and take longer to dry. The perfect consistency would be a sticky paste. Then I just poured it into the pan and used the spatula to make it flat. I used double sided tape to stick them into the CD case. This is my outcome.

I took the stickers from the bottom of the jars and stuck them on the cd case to know which colors are which.

Review: e.l.f. Studio Eye Primer & Liner Sealer

This is a review for the e.l.f. Studio Eye Primer & Liner Sealer, not to be confused with their mineral eyeshadow primer, that I reviewed before here. This retails for $3 for .09 oz primer and .14 oz sealer. The sealer side is suppose to help turn your eyeshadow into liquid eyeliner. As I don't usually use that because I'm scared to poke myself in the eye, I decided to try it out. It just felt like a cold brush, but some color from my e/s did show up so I guess it does work, if I lined a few more times the color will build up.

As for the primer side, I tried this as an experiment with NYX eyeshadow. On one side of my eye, I used no primer at all and on the other, I used this product. You can easily tell that the side with the primer made the e/s more vibrant and not dull like the other eye. After several hours, the eye with primer lasted without creasing, which makes this product effective! I wouldn't recommend these with cream eyeshadows because it creased for me.

Compared with the mineral eyeshadow primer, I would say it is equally effective, but the mineral one comes with more product (.15 oz vs .09). I guess it would depend on which applying method you like better and if you have use for the sealer end. I have read that this studio primer reminds people of a concealer stick which makes me wonder if regular concealer sticks can do the same job. I guess that will be another experiment for next time!

Some e.l.f. studio swatches

Here are some swatches of some e.l.f. studio line products.

The first picture contains the colors of the Eye Transformer palette. It is suppose to transform the color of your original eyeshadow into something different depending on the color that you choose to put on top of it. The shades are green, coral, pink, and blue.

This next one is from the Shimmer Palette. It seems to be in the form of a cream consistency and it is very shimmery/metallic-like on the skin when you put it on. The shades are white, light pink, coral, and a slightly darker pink.

This last one is the new eyeshadow singles. The colors are Charcoal, Coffee Bean, Pebble, Raspberry Truffle, Saddle, and Sand Dollar.

This is the Golden Bronzer and Warm Bronzer. The swatches are the colors in clockwise order. The fifth color is all the previous blended together. I think these would make great e/s colors!

These are the new blushes. The colors are Merry Berry, Blushing Rose, Mellow Mauve, and Tickled Pink. The colors are definitely not as shimmery as I thought from the pictures from their website.

I have to say it was one of the most painful and messy experiments I've done. I tried it because they were taking up too much space as singles and I find that I don't take them out as often. I watched a couple of YouTube tutorials on how to do it and I decided to use a nail filer instead of a knife because I know I'd hurt myself even worse. As most of them cracked, I pressed them back with alcohol so the ones you see without the hetchmarks broke haha. I taped them to the cd case with double sided tape. I can tell you that I won't be doing this ever again! On the plus side, my fingers got really messy doing this and I tested the color on my eyes and left them there for a couple hours. I was amazed to find out that without putting on primer, these things last and don't crease!! The colors did fade a little though. What kind of depotting have you ladies done and was it successful?

Review: e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer

This is a review for the e.l.f. mineral eyeshadow primer, not to be confused with their studio line's eye primer and sealer. So far I have tried this three times on different hot summer days. This retails for $3 for .15 fl oz but if you have been taking advantage of their 75% off the mineral line coupon I mentioned in my last post (WWYB75M), they would only be $0.75 each!

Day 1: I used the primer with Sugar e/s, which is a regular powder type. My first impression of the primer was that it was more watery than other ones I have tried. The lasting power was pretty good and the e/s did stand out, but it could've just been that the e/s is shimmery itself haha.

Day 2: I used the primer with Revlon's Illuminance Cream Shadow. It did not work for this type of e/s. It creased like crazy!! I had to wipe it off because it looked so unflattering.

Day 3: I was home today and decided to test it out again. On my left eye, I used Sally Hansen's Line Soothing Mineral Powder (which I think is supposed to be a blush but the pinks are so shimmery I wanted to try it as an e/s). So far so good, the color is vibrant and no signs of creasing. On my right eye, I used the Revlon Cream shadow again, to see if last time was just a fluke. Boy was I wrong, within 15 minutes (no joke!!), it was like crease city. It was so horrible, I'm glad I was home when I did this.

All in all, I think it's best to not use this primer with cream shadows, perhaps because my skin is oily, but with regular e/s it is working pretty well. $3 and well worth it, time to stock up!!

I was tagged by Recessionista to do 11 things that make me happy. Here we go!

1. Finding good deals: I just love bargain shopping. Living in NYC makes this irresistible because there are so many dollar stores and and those selling random stuff. That's why my room is full of stuff that I hardly ever use but enjoy looking at haha.

2. Family days: It's pretty rare when my mom, dad, and me have days off at the same time so when we do (only a couple times a year), we go out to walk around. I can't really remember when I did it as a child but love hearing stories about it from my parents.

3. Singing: Since I'm an only child still going to school and both my parents work, I'm usually home alone. This gives me privacy to do anything I want, including singing! I blast the music up and rock out haha!

4. Junk foods: No explanation necessary!

5. A good movie/series: I don't know why I get really into the romantic comedy types. Whenever I watch and something really good or sad happens, I'll cry and get emotional, but I love it!

6. Dressing up: I love putting dressing up. It doesn't matter the brand of the clothes, as long as it looks good and makes me feel pretty.

7. Getting packages in the mail: Whether it's a haul or something I've swapped with someone, it's always like Christmas when opening packages!

8. Getting good grades: It makes me happy to know that my hard work has paid off and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

9. Chats with mom: I talk to her about mostly anything and feel comforted to know that she loves me unconditionally.

10. Giving advice: My friends like to tell me about their lives and ask me for advice. I feel happy to know that they trust my opinion and feel comfortable enough to come to me about anything.

11. Being in love: Even though it's been a while since, I remember the joys of thinking about and spending time with someone else and knowing that they care about me in the same way. I've yet to find The One yet but I'm optimistic to know he's out there :)

E.L.F. Haul

So I ordered from E.L.F. sale I mentioned to you last week Thursday. Tracking actually said that they went to my house on Friday (one day shipping!) but the hard working U.S.P.S. (pfft) are liars because I was home and they did not leave me any notice nor rang my doorbell. So I finally had time to go to the post office that was far away to pick it up. Here are all the stuff I got for a total of only $41.25!

Here are the eye shadows and blushes/bronzers in the compacts.
1st compact (clockwise): Bronzed, Flushed, Shy, Glow
2nd compact (clockwise): Periwinkle, Pink Ice, Wisteria, Truly Pink
3rd compact (clockwise): Dusk, Ivory, Moondust, Mocha

This is the Mineral Eyeshadow Primer and Eye Primer & Liner Sealer. The sealer part doesn't make sense to me because doesn't it get contaminated by each color you use? Also, the liquid inside comes out of the container very easily.

This is the travel mirror and Candy Shop lip gloss (free gift).

These are the concealer, foundation, and blush/bronzer/blending brushes. They are very soft!

Lastly, these are the mineral lipsticks which is why I ordered in the first place.

Some swap packages came as I mentioned in my last post, don't you just love opening envelopes even though you know what's in it? Swapping is a great way to get rid of what you don't want without throwing them away while at the same time having the chance to try other products you want but don't need to spend money on.

This package contained Rimmel's Lasting Finish in Celeb, Airy Fairy, Pink Champagne, and NYX's Black Label Lipstick in Bling.

This one contained NYX Round Lipstick in Mars and Avon's Ultra Color Rich in Instant Mocha.

Collective Haul (Pic Heavy!!)

This is a collection of all the stuff I've bought for the past month or two. If you want any swatches of anything, feel free to let me know!

I bought the VS Beauty Rush Sparkling eye shadow for 75% off (In Twinkled Pink, Deja Blue & Goldblinger) so it was like $1.75 each. The wet/dry shadows were 6 for $20. (In Espresso Lane, Crystal Ball, Bronzinger, Hot Ginger, Smokin' & Gold Rush) I believe the Revlon Diamond Lusts were $2.99 each (In Grab Me Gold, Pillow Talk Pink & Platinum Plaything)

These were BOGO free at CVS last week. I heard great things about these so I bought a ton of them. The Revlon Illuminous Cream Shadow were 2 for $6.49. (In Wild Orchids, Not Just Nudes, Skinlights, Precious Metals) The 12 Hour ColorStay were 2 for $6.99. (In Blushed Wines, Sterling Rose, Sandstorm & Berry Bloom) There were so many choices of palettes I decided to swap for some too!

I ordered two sets of samples from Everyday Minerals.

I found these at a store named Conway. All 12 for $4.99! I think I'll put the darker colors up for swap.

Next, I ordered these shoes from Sears.com. I didn't even know Nascar made shoes! The white and the black pairs were only $6.79 each on clearance so I thought why not give them a try! The heels are higher than I realized (around 3.5") so I might bring them back to the store. The third pair is from Apostrophe and pretty comfortable ($8.49 on clearance).

And lastly, I went to Bath & Body Works and got the Sweet Pea Anti-Bacterial Waterless Hand Foam 2 for $5, a bottle of P.S. I Love You body lotion (which is a new scent that will debut soon) for $1, a VS lip balm in Happy for $3, and I had a coupon for a free lip product with any purchase so I chose the new Lychee flavored Mentha Lip Shine.

Avon Ultra Color Rich Lipstick: Swatches + Review

This is a review on Avon Ultra Color Rich Lipsticks. I bought these a while back when they were on sale for $2.49 each (I believe retail was around $6). I see on their website now that they updated the packaging a little and have new colors. I find that whenever I feel like wearing lipstick, I reach for these because of the nice colors they put on my lips and the moisturizing feeling that lasts a long time. If I want an extra shine, I can just easily add lip gloss on top and go! I would definitely purchase these again!

NYX Girls Round Lip Gloss: Swatches + Review

I don't know I'm so addicted to NYX so much! The following will be a review and swatches of the Round Lip Glosses that I own. In the entire collection, there are a total of 36 colors and they retail for $2.00 US each. I ordered these from Cherry Culture when they had their 50% off sale so they were only $1.00! These smell really good compared to the Megashine Lip Gloss in my opinion, more like ice cream or a shake. From what I've read from other bloggers, they don't last very long, but it seems long lasting to me, perhaps because I do not really eat or drink that much when I have gloss/lipstick on. The variety of colors that these come in are very pretty, ranging from shimmery to color only. The doe foot applicator it comes with is slightly angled which doesn't really make a difference to me. The only thing I would add to make this better is if it had a sweet taste to it or something of that nature. Otherwise, I highly recommend these because of the low price and the way you can wear them alone or layer them on a matching lipstick!

Hong Kong Post #1: Hauls!

Hi everyone! I have returned from my vacation with my dad to Hong Kong. I am going to make one post on hauls and another one for other pictures as I don't want to make a huge post. So here are some of the stuff I got! I was too lazy to take pictures of every little thing. Enjoy!

Most of these shoes were less $10 USD, the most expensive being the Pumas at $38.

I was such a sucker for tiny pink umbrellas, especially with Hello Kitty on them. The purple ones are for my mommy.

These HK slippers were around $20 USD a pair.

These bags range from $4 USD to $30 USD. They feel so soft!!

This pretty top was less than $4 USD!

Most of these were less than $1 USD per pair!

Hi bloggers! I am off tomorrow to Hong Kong with my dad for 2 weeks to visit family and celebrate my birthday. I hope to find tons of cute stuff and have some great hauls. I will be sure to take pictures for all of you to see :) I may not be able to read and comment on any blogs as I'm not sure if I will have any Internet. Swatches: NYX Eye Pencils & Glitter Mania Jumbo Pencils

I haven't received my whole NYX order yet so I figured I'll make some swatches of things I already have. Today is the last day to get them half price!!

Here are the NYX eye pencils that are normally $2.00 each. If you can't see the colors clearly in the picture, they are Extreme Black, Brown, Dark Brown, Light Brown, Silver, White, Charcoal, Taupe, Soft Blue, and Soft Pink.

Happy Mother's day all!!! I'm back! All my finals are done and I finally have time to make some new posts. On Friday I went with my bff to Manhattan because they were having a huge sale for L'Oreal brands. I bought some stuff which I kept and others which I gave to my mommy for her day. Sorry I haven't made any posts lately, I'm in the middle of my finals week. I have one more to go tomorrow and another take home one to complete by Sunday noon. I redid my nails but my memory card reader won't upload my pictures so I can't show you. I do have a lot of posts I plan to do such as reviews of some of the products I have. I also have many hauls coming my way.. I blame the recession for all these great beauty deals! I am also leaving for my birthplace of Hong Kong on May 20 for two weeks to visit family. I will also spend my birthday there.. yay more shopping and gifts!! :) I was thinking what I should buy there.. not sure what they have that are cheaper than here. Perhaps a new and smaller laptop!! Nail Haul + Konad Testing

So I made a nail polish haul.. it was $14.80 from eBay for 15 but the seller sent me 21 polishes instead. They are all so pretty! :) The auction is still active so check it out if you are interested!

Also, I bought a Konad starter kit for less than $20 and tried it out. It's pretty messy but it's kinda fun to do! Plus the outcome is cute (I used plates M2 and M3 that it came with).

Lip Care

How do you ladies moisturize your lips so they are not dry and flaky in order to put on lipstick? I tried experimenting with putting on lip balm first before lipstick but then it still tends to dry out and the color does not come out even. I tried this with NYX round lipsticks and I have a lot of different colors I want to use but this problem is turning me away from using them! Also, when putting on lipstick, how do you put lip gloss on top without getting the lipstick color on the wand? I don't want it to mix them and get dirty. Perhaps I should just stick with lip glosses to prevent all of these issues.. but the colors are so pretty!! Thank you in advance for all your advice and comments!!

Testing Eye Primers

So Urban Decay is having their Friends & Family Sale 30% off (Code: FNFS9) so I'm gonna try their infamous UDPP and see if that works. I tried Too Faced Shadow Insurance last week and it lasted for a couple hours. I believe I put it on at 3 pm and I checked again at 12:30 am and saw one eye creased so not bad I guess? I don't really know how much to put. I also tried L'Oreal De-Crease yesterday and it creased pretty fast.. maybe I didn't put enough or got a bad batch? I will try again today to see how that goes.

Haul Mania! Part 3 of 3

So my Too Faced packaged finally came.. at least part of it. Some items came and some items weren't included, so I called customer service to inform them. Also because one of the items that came looked used! Yuck!! (You'll see in the picture later) They said they will resend the used item and also the rest of the stuff I haven't received yet. I think it was very nice and customer service got back to me in a timely manner. I also got some stuff I ordered some eBay which I'll show you first.

Recommended by Rai, I found two new L'Oreal De-Crease on eBay which I won for $5.75 for both (Retails $6-8 each).

Next I bought some Mary Kay Signature Eye Primer also on eBay to try in case the De-Crease doesn't work for me. It was $6 (Retails for $12).

Also one of the swaps I did on MakeUpAlley came. I trade this Ulta lipstick in "Just Kissed" for one of my Avon Glazewear lip glosses that I never used.

This is my attempt to try to jump onto the blog bandwagon. I've read so many different kinds of blogs (mostly music and make up related) and watched many YouTube videos and figured that maybe I could do the same (and past the time faster). I don't think it's my personality to film myself talking because I'm very self conscious about people watching me when I can't see them so I will probably stick to just this for now.
